"Exploring the Connection Between Japan’s Equestrian and Racing Worlds through Northern Farm"
Lecturer: Haruyuki Hirose
Advisor, Northern Farm
Vice Chairman, Hokkaido Equestrian Federation
Northern Farm, renowned for producing world-class racehorses including Deep Impact and his progeny, has become the top racehorse breeding farm globally. Mr. Hirose has dedicated nearly his entire career to supporting Northern Farm's development. As a board member of the Japan Equestrian Federation representing Hokkaido, he has also contributed extensively to the growth of equestrian sports in Japan.
At this session, we will hear fascinating stories such as:
How equestrians have influenced racehorse trainers
Behind-the-scenes insights from the world’s largest Thoroughbred auction, the Select Sale (held July 11–12 at Northern Horse Park)
Northern Farm’s management philosophy: "Good horse breeding starts with good people"
Time: 18:30–21:00 (Registration starts at 17:30, Dinner at 18:30, Lecture begins at 19:30)

Lecturer Profile
Born: 1953, Shimabara City, Nagasaki Prefecture
Education: Graduated from Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (active in the equestrian club)
Career Path:
Worked at a dairy farm and at Hokkaido Agricultural Development Public Corporation after graduation
1988: Joined the former Shadai Farm, working at Hayakita Farm
Prepared for the opening of Northern Horse Park
1989: Northern Horse Park officially opened
1994: Shadai Farm was split; Northern Farm was established (President: Katsumi Yoshida)
Mr. Hirose took charge of major operations, including training supervision
2013: Retired and became Advisor to Northern Farm
